#16114: Water Inlet Supply Filter
Item #16114 – Water Inlet Supply Filter is highly recommended for watering systems utilizing the High-Pressure Float Assembly (Item #16105 HPFA) in the Texas Superior Animal Waterers (Item #16100).
The High-Pressure Floats (Item #16105 HPF) have a small basket strainer which will catch most debris but can still get clogged with small particulates and are difficult to disassemble and clean. When this happens, the water supply is restricted and pressure is greatly reduced, causing the float to not function properly. The Water Inlet Supply Filter should be installed upstream of the waterers and High-Pressure Floats and is able to keep the inlet water supply clear of all debris. Purchase also includes one filter element, two spare gaskets, a filter wrench, mounting bracket, and mounting bolts.
Also included with the filter are two 1" ball valves and two 1" threaded nipples for attaching into your water supply line. The filter also has a small ball valve on the bottom to allow for draining or to check for debris. If you notice a lot of sand or debris in your filter, a loss of pressure, or your waterer is slow to fill, it may be time to check, clean, or replace your filter element. If problems persist, please don't hesitate to contact us directly for assistance.
To change the filter element, close the two 1" ball valves to shut off the water supply, and open the small valve located on the bottom of the filter body to drain all the water out. Using the filter wrench, twist the blue filter body off of the unit, remove the old filter element, install a new 10" x 4 ½" filter element, and reattach the filter body. Close the small drain valve, and open the two 1" ball valves to restore water supply.
During installation, it is also recommended to allow about 14" of clearance below the filter to give yourself room to remove the filter body when changing filter elements.
